Aging or Anti-Aging?

Aging is a natural process, but it seems to bring about many health issues and beauty concerns. Bones lose calcium and other minerals, so their density decreases over time. This is especially true for women after menopause. People become prone to fractures, decreased stability, inflammations, and other chronic health conditions. However, few people truly take into consideration that lifestyle is one of the most important factors that can encourage anti-aging and preserve physical and mental health. It is important to note that hormones play a significant role in aging. Fewer hormones enter the blood stream, and the body needs more time to metabolize those hormones. Hormones that decrease the most are aldosterone, growth hormone, and renin. Women also show a significant decrease in estrogen and prolactin levels. Hormonal changes can result in various skin symptoms; although a natural process, there are various products to help women with their ant-aging symptoms.

Lifestyle choices also speed up aging, especially if they encourage anxiety, depression, or high levels of psychological stress. Controlling and adjusting your lifestyle will help with the anti-aging process. Stressful careers, poor relationships, and raising children are some of the reasons why women experience increased stress levels. Exercise and relaxation have been identified as the most effective actions against aging symptoms. There have been many studies that encourage 20 to 30 minute walks as daily activities to preserve cognitive and physical well-being longer. Along with exercise, proper diet is equally critical in the anti-aging process. There are no significant differences between men and women when it comes to basic nutrition requirements. Both genders should follow a well-balanced nutritional diet, but women are advised to increase their calcium and vitamin D intake significantly.

Studies have also shown that individuals who eat more fruits, vegetables, nuts, and whole grain products can protect themselves from many chronic conditions. The nutritional values in these foods are beneficial for the anti-aging process because they keep the blood vessels healthy. Healthy blood vessels will encourage hormonal balance, improve bodily functions, decrease aging symptoms, and increase your vitality.

Some additional minerals to look out for that can be beneficial to skin health are:

1) Zinc – Acne can be a symptom of Zinc deficiency.
2) Omega 3 Fatty Acids – They are responsible for skin repair. It is found in cold water fish.
3) Selenium – This mineral will help with cell damage and it determines the tissue elasticity.
